Next year, Nintendo is releasing a new home console, the Wii U. Taiwanese component makers tell tech site DigiTimes that Sony is readying a new home console for 2012. But that's not the interesting part.
These component manufacturer sources tell DigiTimes that the PlayStation 4 will feature body-movement controls like Microsoft's Kinect. That's the interesting, if not unexpected, part.

The PS3 currently has PlayStation Move motion controls, which are similar to the Wii's motion controls.

The report states Foxconn and Pegatron Technology will assemble the PS4 for Sony. Foxconn and Pegatron Technology both assemble the PS3, which was originally manufactured in Japan.

Sources told DigiTimes that the PS4 will go into production at the end of 2011 for a 2012 launch. Apparently Sony will manufacture 20 million PS4 consoles for 2012.

Taiwan-based component makers tell DigiTimes that the PlayStation 4 will feature body-movement controls like Microsoft's Kinect.

Previously, Kotaku reported that 2014 seems likely for a new Sony or Microsoft console—2013 if either Sony or Microsoft feels pushed. 2013 seems like a far more realistic date for a new PlayStation 4 than 2012, which is next year.

What's more, America's slow economic recovery could make launching after 2012 ultimately more profitable. Also, Sony is releasing its new portable, the PS Vita this year, and the Tokyo-based electronics giant might need a breather between hardware launches.

If DigiTimes' sources are correct, Sony could look to get the jump on Microsoft and thwart Nintendo in one fell swoop.

Since the PS3 launched, Sony has touted the machine's 10 year lifespan. The PS3 launched in 2006, six years into the PS2's lifespan. Even after the PS3 launched, Sony continued to support the PlayStation 2.

If the PlayStation 4 launches in 2012, that would be six years into the PS3's lifespan. Sony could continue to support the PS3 as it did with the PlayStation 2.

Kotaku reached out to Sony and will update this post should the company comment.

uso na man leaks ug rumors karon. ang wii u (project cafe?) dugay ba to na rumor bago na confirm? gears3 na leak... maayo nang sayo i release para magbaba pa ang presyo sa ps3 ug para dili magdali dali magpalit ug ps4 mapareho na pud ni dati over a year in sa life sa ps3 wala pa kaayo games lingaw madula ginalibak lang sa ubang consoles/pc na fanboys.

kung mag ps4 unsa ba kulang na wala sa ps3? power lang man diba? kanang eye candy graphics na pwede itapat sa current gen na pc games. aside from that wala man siguro kaayo bago kung mag ps4 na naa na sa ps3. full body motion controls similar sa xbox ang lingaw lang man pud madula kay dance central ang uban casual games na. dili nako ma imagine ang mga core gamers magdula ug fps using full body controls unsa na mag point sila sa screen gamit ilang kamot na nag gesture ug gun unya mag ingon "bang! bang! bang!" kung mag ps4 dapat dili na kaayo mahal like tung release na price sa ps3 daghan na man pud na contribute ang ps3 sa current gen gaming - 3D gaming/movies check. core/casual gaming check. motion controls check (although nintendo nag contribute ani casual lang hinuon kaayo ilang games, lingaw gamit ang ps move sa kz3, socom, dead space extraction responsive pud). movies/music/photos check. internet browsing/social networking check. voice/text chat check. online mp check. classic/arcade game store check. communication between playstation devices/transfarring? check (augmented reality pwede man siguro ma implement na using ngp mag communicate sa ps3). multiple monitors na gaming check (tung sa gran turismo sa maka afford sa setup pwede i split ang image gamit 3 ka monitors). i hope ps4 will not be like current gen gaming with prettier graphics...

kung future innovation man sa gaming/entertainment gusto nako makita ma implement tung uban gina forcast/predict ni michio kaku na ang wall sa room mismo kay pwede use as interactive na monitor/tv unya ang room kay 'smart room' makabalo sa imong physical well being ug uban behaviors nimo (ok siguro ni gamitan ug full body motion controls na exercise na games syaro dili ma track ang calories na imong gina burn) ug tung contact lens/glasses na monitor (naa na crosshair ug uban details daan imong pananaw ginafollow sa imong mata rather than i control pa sa gamepad ang imong target, pwede pud siguro gamitan ug augmented reality or sa imong room mismo magpop mga makita nimo in game using tung glasses).

Bethesda's set to unveil its new Xbox 360, PS3 and PC "first-person stealth/action adventure" game in the latest issue of US retailer mag Game Informer.

Developed by Arkane Studios (Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic), due out in 2012 and first rumoured last week, Dishonored is described as "a game about assassination where you don't have to kill anyone."

It's "a game about infiltration where you can set up traps and slaughter the entire garrison of an aristocrat's mansion rather than sneak in," GI continues. "It's a game about brutal violence where you can slip in and out of a fortified barracks with nobody ever knowing you were there.


"It's a game about morality and player choice where the world you create is based on your actions, not navigating conversation trees.

"Dishonored is a game we can't wait to tell you more about."

However, from a distance the most exciting thing about the steampunk-enthused title at the moment is the talent behind it; Arkane founder Raf Colantonio teams with Deus Ex lead designer Harvey Smith as co-creative director, while Viktor Antonov, the man who designed Half-Life 2's iconic City 17, is lending his talents to Dishonored's world.

Arkane's last title, the decent first-person brawler Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, ultimately suffered from a lack of publisher support.

Bethesda Softworks, which acquired the studio late last year, says it believes in the developer's vision and is giving it all the time, money, and development help it needs - including "regular meetings with guys like The Elder Scrolls' Todd Howard".

ok kaya ni pang ps3? unta managhan pa ning mga 3D na monitors/tv para paspas magnaog ang presyo. mahal lang gamay na lang dungag maka palit na 42" na 3D plasma, 35k ata ang 42" 3d plasma sa LG. sabagay LED dili mahadlok sa IR/burn-in images sa mga plasma.
