Honestly, piracy is probably beneficial in developing countries. Consoles won't enjoy high sales in this country without it. All the current gen consoles sold pretty sadly before the Wii and 360 were hacked, as far as I know. I've heard about console companies losing money from console sales, but that sounds like outright lying to me. Besides, it's too far into their product lifespans to still be spending so much in production.
Piracy is a simple economic consideration. It's difficult to buy games when they cost more than 1/5th of the typical monthly salary. They become much more attractive at 1/50th. Some people (like me) pirate for testing. I don't enjoy gambling P2000 on what may end up being a piece of crap game (Valkyria Chronicles, anyone? Unreal Tournament 3?), so I get it for cheap and THEN buy it when I know it's worth it. If it's not worth it, I'll stop playing it anyway.
Rock Band is a special case. I've given Harmonix enough of my money through broken instruments and I simply don't give a rat's ass about buying their games anymore.
I'm not trying to argue with you, btw. I'm just thinking out loud.
And I support this. The more 360 sellers, the better.
